Yeah I'm back. Too soon. Okay, so this first post is about shrimp. Yes, the little orange sea creatures with spindly legs and big beady eyes. Have a look:
They look
like prawns, don't they? Actually, shrimp and prawns belong to the same class
of crustaceans
(animals with a hard shell covering and a segmented body); they're not the
same. I won't bore you with their differences. So, getting back to the
point, what is so peculiar about these shrimp? Well the thing is (*brace for
impact*)-ALL SHRIMP ARE BORN MALE.
Yes, you read it
right. ALL new born shrimp are male. They undergo,ah,certain changes in later
years and turn female. That is why female shrimp are bigger in size than
males. So now that you know all about shrimp, try to guess whether this one is a male or a female!
That's it for today!
OR MAYBE NOT. Time for a comic strip! This is 'Pearls Before Swine' by Stephan Pastis. The main characters are Rat, Goat, Pig, the crocs who are always trying to kill and eat their neighbour Zebra and the creator, Stephan Pastis himself.(I do not own any of these. All rights reserved to the author.)
